1956 Thunderbird (Motor) – Introducing Penelope

So having dropped the dollars on this rather cute vintage Triumph, I finally have her back home in the garage.

She has successfully completed an engineers check and is now registered for use on the road here in WA.

The Motor is a 1956 6T Thunderbird, the Frame and Cycle Parts all appear to be from the Triumph Parts catalogue from 1956 through to about 1970. The Saddle, it may look comfortable, but it is I declare the ugliest saddle ever to grace a motorcycle and it will be the first thing to go.

Having ticked all the boxes for to make her legal, I decided to take Penelope for a test run round the block.

I wanted to get a feel for the bike, before I started work on putting her in a more presentable state. I climbed into my period riding gear, added a pair of special edition, rose tinted Stadium MKIV goggles tickled the carb, gave the kickstart a hefty prod, and set off down the drive grinning from ear to ear…………..
